Living Room
Entry/Stairway
(The Nauvoo brick is not supposed to be there) I have read that for staging, it is good to take down a lot of personal pictures, but I wasn't ready to take down my gallery. Hopefully they see it as decor, not just our stuff.
It is hard to take good pictures in such a small space. I bought new white towels for showing this room, so I have to make the kids go upstairs to wash their hands so they don't mess it up. (It is hard to be a nice Mom when you are trying to sell a home).

I think the loft and the living room are the ones that amaze me the most. Are these the same rooms!? I like what you did with the back yard. It was all still in the planning stages the last time I was there. I know what you mean about being sad about selling. I still have great fondness for our first little house. I think I told you how I bawled most of the way to the new house (1/2 hr. or more) when we moved 3 years ago. I'm pretty fond of the new one now, though. Except today the main floor AC died, so I'm having some issues. Best of luck, especially with showings. They're the worst because you hate having them, but if you don't have showings, you don't sell the house. . . Hey, why no pictures of Barry's "stuff room"?

Can I just say WOW!!!! You guys did good! And even in your pregnant sate! I think you diserve a vacation now!
Thank you, Shanda. But I really can't take much credit. I worked hard all week (mainly on the loft), but much of the serious cleaning was done by other people. It never would have happened otherwise!
What a good idea about a vacation! :-)
Trina, I had to laugh when I read your question about Barry's "stuff room." He needs to empty a lot of stuff out of the closet still and take to storage, but really, that room looks, good too. It just isn't very exciting, since almost no decorating ever happened in there. But maybe I'll take a picture or two, for those who still doubt that it could be clean.
When did you visit last? Did we not have our IKEA furniture in the living room? We actually didn't do too much in there, except take out the big recliner (the rug is out for now) and pack up extra pictures and nick nacks. Anyone know how to use dry cleaning solvent to clean a khaki couch, or should we just convince Mom to make us a slip cover?
Honestly, I am fond of homemade cleansers, so I doubt that you would be able to use it on a dryclean product!
I have to ask where you got your stairway picture arrangement??? I have an entryway staircase, and I have actually arranged the kids' pictures along the angle of the stairs, but I LOVE that frame arrangement!!!
Hi Hope,
Sorry so long in responding! Thanks for the compliment. I purchased the poles and clips on ebay (discontinued from Pottery Barn) but we just installed our own 1x4s. I painted them black and distressed them a little, then hung the poles on them. We made the wooden plaques at an RS activity (and I made several to give away). I have seen some fun gallery arrangements where people hang a decorative curtain rod and hang ribbon from it. They actually nail the pictures into the wall, but it gives the illusion that they are all attached to the ribbon and hanging together. Make sense? I'm not sure if you could find any of the Pottery Barn stuff anymore. I think they make some comparable products now, but they are pretty expensive, as I recall.
